Imagine a newborn baby born into this world. Confronting adults who are already in Stress Syndrome. The baby does not know what wondering is , but intuitively wonders what worry, that baby does not know about, makes Daddy's eyes look that way? Stress communicates at nonverbal levels, too. The baby begins taking a bath in the culture's mental/emotional syndromes before he/she knows he/she is a baby.
We begin to get conditioned in various ways to performing certain rote tricks that somehow seem to get us what we need. Later in Life we may not even realize we are still performing those same rote tricks. Some of them are just expressions we get on our face.
We become addicted to getting certain things or else we just can't take it . These things were given the word "Attachments" by the earliest psychological scientists of the last 6000 years. Attachments trigger negative emotions and hostility, and close down intuition and self-observation - the very things we need to deal with these attachments.
One way of looking at it is that we carry around with us Unresolved Experiences we have had. If we could focus on them sufficiently we could reach clarity and resolve them in our selves - reach closure - know what our Values are, and what our Plan is. We would know what we are striving for, and will have the courage and nobility to be able to stand it if we never get there.
This is the Effectiveness State, where we reside in Joy while carrying out our intentions knowing that the outcome could go any which way. Our attachments have been replaced by preferences upon which we are acting more effectively in the real world than we were ever able to when we were driven by an inner muddle. |
